Stijn de Leeuw graduated (with Merit) from the University of Amsterdam as a Clinical Developmental Psychologist in 2017. After working in Amsterdam at the Opvoedpoli as psychologist and parent/child coach for one year, he decided to move to South Africa and enrol as a PhD Student at the University of Cape Town.

The research for his PhD is focussed on investigating protective factors that support resilience in a South African birth cohort study.

In May 2019 he founded an NGO called Little Lions Child Coaching (www.littlelionschildcoaching.com). Their vision is that every child between 8-13 years old from an underprivileged community in South Africa, has grown their resilience, confidence and emotional awareness through normalising mental health conversations through locally educated role models/facilitators by the use of strength -and evidence-based tools.
